There’s no denying it, Madrid is one cool city. We spent an inspiring 48 hours in this vibrant capital and it’s bursting with a boho and vintage vibe. We loved exploring the Malasaña district, where we discovered street art everywhere! Madrid sure is a hedonistic feast of colour, pattern and the unexpected.
Down side streets we discovered old fashioned tapas bars and unassuming cafes with mismatched tables and chairs, exposed brick work and iron pipes that enhance a industrial design look with a twist. Decor is mixed with interesting textiles and there's a modern nod to a '70's vintage style with lighting and decor accessories in this summer's natural trend, rattan and bamboo. Plants are a key feature too, all displayed in a mix of hanging planters.
Malasaña is home to many vintage shops and markets and is the perfect place to browse if you’re looking for unique clothes, accessories and interesting objects in home decor and by interesting, we mean interesting!
Everyday objects like shop doors and shutters become a canvas to display illustrations and paintings. To many independent shops to explore though we loved the quirky window displays, where it seems anything goes!
